Job Summary:
The Chief of Staff is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for medical affairs, providing administration and the medical staff with knowledge, experience and leadership from a medical management perspective. The Chief of Staff facilitates communication and understanding among the various clinical components
of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre delivery system, assuring provision of high-quality care to the patients serviced at the hospital.

This position requires a physician with experience in the administration of hospital operations, licensed to practice in Ontario, has an active practice and resides in Sioux Lookout. Experience working with physicians, physician practices, coaching and mentoring peers, and working with a diverse cross section of all service providers within the hospital setting is required. The successful candidate will be required to represent the Hospital in local, regional and provincial forum(s) to ensure alignment and integration of Hospital services with those of the health care system.

You will require skills in building relationships with administration and community boards. As part of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Team, the Chief of Staff recognizes leadership and building partnerships both within and outside the hospital setting to be crucial to the success and achievement of the Hospital’s Mission, Vision and Values and strategic direction for the growth of the organization. This position may
require travel and the hours of work are flexible.

Qualifications:

  1. Eligible for license in Ontario (Registered with CPSO).
  2. 5 years of work experience preferred.
  3. Able to communicate both verbally and in writing as well as communicate technical information to patients and non-technical staff.
  4. Ability to deal with individuals sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally at all times.
  5. Computer literacy, including effective working skills with MS Word, Excel and email required.
  6. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  7. High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  8. High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  9. Strong morals and ethics.
  10. Travel may be required.

Job Duties:

  1. Oversee all professional staff within Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre.
  2. Develop, coordinate and implement clinical protocols.
  3. Ensure that the professional care given to patients is in accordance with hospital policy.
  4. Advise the board on quality of care provided to patients by physicians.
  5. Maintain a working knowledge of healthcare practices, procedures etc.
  6. Ensure and stay abreast of current trends within the healthcare field.
  7. Support way to monitor and maintain quality assurance.
  8. Stay up to date on legal concerns and trends within the healthcare field.
  9. Support risk management strategies to ensure malpractice prevention.
  10. Report any concerns to the Board of Directors.
  11. Work with senior leadership to develop and maintain the hospital budget.
  12. Review and address any patient or staff complaints that are brought forward relating to a physician and/or physician care.
  13. Work closely with senior leadership to ensure that set goals and organizational strategies are achieved.
  14. Participate in the development of the hospital’s mission, vision and values, strategic goals and objectives.
  15. Maintain professional development seminars, conferences, etc.
  16. Other duties as required.

Salary: The salary range for this position will be in line with the OHA compensation
structure.
