AFFIDIAN CREDIT UNION is seeking a Chief Financial Officer. We are looking for a passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced person to lead our team. This is a full-time, in-office position. Work will be performed at the Credit Union branch located at 10025 Park Meadows Drive, Lone Tree, CO 80124. Occasional travel to other branch locations may be required for business needs.

The Credit Union offers a comprehensive health benefits package, a generous PTO plan, paid holidays, and eligibility for participation in the 401K plan. The pay range is $134,074 - $223,048 per year and will commensurate with experience.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Manage and oversee all financial affairs for the Credit Union. Responsible for financial planning, analyzing the Credit Union’s performance, and ensuring financial reporting is accurate. Ensures the Credit Union is compliant with internal accounting policies, regulations, financial controls and credit union industry standards. Reports financial status to Executive Management and Board of Directors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Financial planning: Create budgets, forecasts, and financial strategies.
  2. Cash flow: Track cash flow and ensure the Credit Union has adequate funds.
  3. Financial reporting: Ensure financial reports are accurate and completed on time.
  4. Compliance: Ensure the Credit Union complies with regulations and rules.
  5. Investment: Research and decision where to invest company funds and maintain relationships with investors.
  6. Risk management: Analyze the Credit Union’s financial strengths and weaknesses, and propose corrective actions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team.
  2. Provide strategic recommendations to the President/CEO and members of the executive management team.
  3. Manage processes for financial forecasting and budgets and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting.
  4. Responsible for ensuring the risk and compliance management framework is embedded and operational for the Credit Union.
  5. Establishing and developing relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.
  6. Ability and knowledge to perform all duties and responsibilities of the positions in the finance and accounting department.
  7. Performs other related duties, including special projects as needed or requested.

Reports To: President/CEO.

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibilities and essential duties with superior skill, knowledge and initiative. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:

  1. University degree in accounting.
  2. Must be an experienced accountant.
  3. Five or more years management experience.
  4. Ten or more years of experience in leadership positions within a company’s financial department with a proven track record of success.

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Exceptional ability to monitor, allocate, and control finances on a large scale.
  2. In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, and numeracy.
  3. Excellent communication skills.
  4. Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  5. Excellent analytical skills.
  6. Must have organizational skills to handle a large volume of information.
  7. Strong work ethic.
  8. Ability to present financial analysis and projections to company stakeholders.
  9. Familiarity with accounting terminology and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  10. Experience with Microsoft Excel and other digital tools.
  11. Understanding of financial concepts, such as discounting cash flows, liquidity management, investment valuation, and characteristics of various loans, investments, and deposits.
  12. Understanding of accounting concepts, such as GAAP, budgeting, financial statements, and general ledger reconciliation.
  13. Knowledge of branch operations, procedures, and functions.
  14. Understanding of Credit Union products and services.
  15. Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  16. Excellent problem-solving attitude and abilities.
  17. Able to work well independently while maintaining appropriate distance from staff.
  18. Effectively communicate with other departments and vendors.
  19. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  20. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the executive team.

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive contact with others inside and outside of the Credit Union and is usually personal or sensitive in nature. Outside contact is important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies, governmental agencies, and/or individuals) is necessary.
