CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER – SHOOTING FEDERATION OF CANADA (SFC)
The Shooting Federation of Canada (SFC), the national sport organization responsible for the development and governance of organized, recreational, and competitive target shooting in Canada, invites applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
SFC is recognized by the Government of Canada, the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Paralympic Committee, and the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) as the national governing body for shooting in Canada, particularly focused on ISSF shooting sport disciplines and preparing athletes for competition at the World Championships and Olympic and Paralympic Games. To promote the growth of the sport of shooting, the SFC delivers programs for officials, coaches, volunteers, and high performance athletes and domestic programs to support the pathway to high performance. SFC has relationships with the provincial shooting organizations and various clubs, as well as individuals to advance the sport opportunities for all ages and levels and physical abilities.
Reporting to the SFC Board through the Chair, the CEO has responsibility for providing overall leadership and direction of operations and managing SFC’s responsibilities to our funding and sport partners.
As an advocate for target shooting sports in Canada, the CEO represents SFC by building strong relationships with the membership, government, external stakeholders, and partners to ensure SFC has a significant voice for target shooting sports in Canada.
The CEO also supports the Board in fulfilling their governance role and works with various Board councils and committees, as well as key volunteers to achieve SFC’s goals.
In this regard, the CEO will lead through and embody SFC’s Values: Accountability, Respect & Care, Inclusivity, and Excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
With a balanced focus on longer-term strategy execution and short-term operations needed to best serve our athletes, members and other key stakeholders, the CEO will lead and manage SFC in accordance with the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. The CEO’s key responsibilities focus on the following:
Qualifications:
The top candidates will possess a university undergraduate degree (e.g., sport or business management, physical education/kinesiology) or equivalent experience; a master’s or other post-graduate degree would be an asset. In addition, they will also have the following qualifications:
SFC’s National Office is in Ottawa, Ontario; SFC supports flexible working arrangements.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications within the following salary range: $110,000 – $125,000 per annum.
