Job description

Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA)

Deadline for applications

Duties

The Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) is an incorporated body, not for profit organization, whose members have responsibility for the administration, regulation, and control of motor vehicle transportation and highway safety in Canada. Membership includes representation from provincial and territorial governments as well as the Federal Government of Canada. With a vision to achieve the safest and most efficient movement of people and goods by road globally, CCMTA also benefits from the insights of its associate members, whose expertise contributes to the development of innovative strategies and programs. It is within this context that CCMTA is seeking to recruit its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Reporting to a national Board of Directors, the CEO drives organizational excellence through governance and management action, providing strategic, financial, operational, risk management, and administrative leadership to the work of the organization. The CEO represents CCMTA externally alongside the Chair of the Board, engaging with the media, industry associations, and government agencies. As the chief staff officer, the CEO leads a team of 17 motivated and accomplished professionals, fostering a collaborative culture that encourages innovative thinking. The CEO understands the “big picture”, finding creative, strategic, and practical solutions to complex problems, ensuring CCMTA is well-prepared to meet future challenges.

As the ideal candidate, you are a strategic and forward-thinking leader capable of developing and delivering a focused, compelling, and member-centric direction for CCMTA. You bring a bold vision and the energy necessary to achieve its mission, consistently seeking innovative ways to increase Board engagement, generate revenue, maximize opportunities, and overcome potential roadblocks. As an empathetic and inclusive leader, you set high standards for organizational performance and foster dynamic team cultures that prioritize respect, transparency, and accountability. You champion a people-first approach, recognizing the importance of maintaining relevance and delivering value to members by actively listening to, anticipating, and responding to their needs.

Politically astute, you are a gifted communicator and skilled relationship builder with exceptional diplomatic, facilitation, influencing, and consensus-building abilities. You have a strong grasp on data use and management and how technology can enhance an organization like CCMTA, continuously evaluating opportunities to streamline systems and improve performance and decision-making. Your knowledge of transportation and road safety, combined with proven leadership in a comparable pan-Canadian, not-for-profit organization is considered an asset, as is your proficiency in both English and French.
