CHEMICAL SPECIALIST - Junior Position This role is located in our Calgary Laboratory location

The Chemical Specialist (Junior Position) will be a member of the Laboratory Services department responsible for providing frontline laboratory support to the technical and operations groups, as well as sales. Reporting to the Director, Laboratory Services, the Chemical Specialist will focus on communication with customers, bench level laboratory work, understanding and utilizing Calfrac products and fluid systems, treatment design, data generation and reporting.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Ensure adherence to operational policies and procedures to achieve safety objectives.
  2. Interact with internal and external customers to supply troubleshooting and service line solutions.
  3. Develop lab and Quality Control (QC) procedures when required.
  4. Monitor QC procedures at field locations and at the district labs.
  5. Perform service work for job and field samples.
  6. Assist in training of Chemical Operators and/or field quality control personnel.
  7. Make relevant suggestions prior to, during, or after treatment to improve treatment success for the customer.
  8. Communicate with district lab facilities when required.
  9. Maintain and foster relationships with Calfrac customers.
  10. Become experienced in fluid system technology.
  11. Identify and document product performance (positives and negatives).
  12. Monitor and help develop QC, water analysis, and all other lab testing databases.
  13. Field quality control as required (this will require travel to field locations).
  14. Actively participate in the quality management process.

  1. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Comfortable in a time-sensitive, project-driven, team-based environment.
  3. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high attention to detail.
  4. The ability to communicate with the operations group and supervisors to ensure effective job execution.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Post-secondary Bachelor of Science in Chemistry / Science / Engineering, Technical Degree or Diploma, or Suitable Training.
  2. Previous lab or oilfield field experience is considered an asset but is not required.
