Tasks

1. Conduct quality control on programs, procedures and control strategies
2. Evaluate chemical process technology and equipment
3. Conduct research into the development or improvement of chemical engineering processes, reactions and materials
4. Design and test chemical processing and associated plants and equipment
5. Oversee the construction, modification, operation and maintenance of pilot plants, processing units or processing plants
6. Commission systems and components
7. Prepare and submit progress and other reports
8. Develop maintenance and operating standards for electrical and electronic systems and equipment
9. Control process start-up, shut-down and troubleshooting
10. Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software and operating system software
11. Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
