Job description

NORAM Electrolysis Systems Incorporated (NESI) is a leading supplier of advanced electrochemical systems and processes for industrial applications. We are seeking a Chemical Operations Technician to join our team. NESI operates a commercial scale demonstration plant at sister-company BC Research in Richmond, BC. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining the electrochemical pilot plant equipment and systems, which involve the conversion of chemicals using electrical current. This is a physically demanding role, requiring the handling of chemicals and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The Chemical Operations Technician will work under the direction of NESI's Research Team to ensure safe and efficient operation of the pilot plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate and maintain electrochemical pilot plant equipment and systems, including pumps, reactors, and heat exchangers.
  2. Transfer chemicals and make up and treat chemical solutions according to established procedures.
  3. Monitor and control process parameters, such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  4. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform repairs as needed.
  5. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters and cleaning equipment.
  6. Maintain accurate records of equipment operation and maintenance activities.
  7. Assist the Research Team with process optimization and new product development.
  8. Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required. Diploma in Chemical Technology or related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a chemical plant operations or related field.
  3. Knowledge of chemical process equipment and systems.
  4. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  7. Ability to work rotating shifts and weekends as needed.
  8. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
