Job Description

Ripple Effect, an evolution of Battlefield's DICE LA, is a Los Angeles and Vancouver-based game studio on a mission to build community-first experiences through continuous innovation and boundary breaking technology.

We are looking for a Concept Artist like you to craft photo real images using a mixture of illustration, photobashing, paint overlays, and 3D art to establish the creative vision for our project.

You will report to our Art Line Manager, based in our studio in Los Angeles. We are considering on-site and hybrid working options for those within Vancouver Canada to apply.

Responsibilities:

As a Concept Artist, you will work with the Art Director and other Craft Directors to help establish and enhance the visual direction for the game.

Work Task Examples:

  • Create visual target images that support the visual direction, mood, and tone of the game.
  • Create readable designs for characters and gadgets that can be translated into 3D assets.
  • Paint overs of existing character models to guide the work of other artists.
  • Guide illustrations for gameplay mechanics.

Skills We Look For:

  • Concept Art for Characters in photo realism.
  • Deep understanding of lighting, composition, and mood.
  • Strong sense of human anatomy, body poses, industrial design, and shape language.
  • Strong understanding of cinematic techniques for storyboarding purposes.
  • Ability to create stunning imagery that translates well into gameplay.
  • Effective collaboration skills.
  • Able to turn high-level feedback into positive results.
  • Highly proficient with Photoshop or similar image editing software.
  • Basic 3D software knowledge (Maya, Blender, Unreal, etc.).

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):

º $89,300 - $123,000 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
