Job description

The Community and Family Services Supervisor (CFS) provides operational direction and supervision to the Community and Family Services division at Cranbrook in the East Kootenay Circuit, including liaising with community partners to facilitate service delivery, organizing food delivery activities, operating family programs, overseeing the hot meal program offered by The Salvation Army, and leading annual Christmas programs.

Education/Certifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years post-secondary education in a relevant field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Computer literacy (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Fiscal and managerial experience will be considered an asset.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Develop an understanding of the Mission of The Salvation Army in The Canada and Bermuda Territory and its implications related to position responsibilities.
  • Represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures as it relates to external funders.
  • Responsible to work in compliance with Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to complete assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Lead by example, demonstrate a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change.
  • Knowledge of community-based resources and experience networking with government and social service agencies.
  • Experience in direct staff supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Working environments for this position will include: the office, the kitchen, or the church for the Food Recovery program, as well as out in the community.
  • Some travel and on-call work during the Corps Officer’s absence is associated with this position.
  • Work will expose the incumbent to deal with disagreeable/angry clients.
  • May involve applying physical force to move/lift/transport materials of up to 40 lbs.
