Job Description – Certified Nurse Assistant
Place of Employment: Client’s home, work outside of the client’s home and other work sites as required by LoveBird HQ management.
Accountable to: LoveBird HQ’s Director, Administrator, Manager.
Job Summary: The Certified Nurse Assistant will lead the quality operations of our Home Care and Skilled Care Agency. Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff. Perform duties such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, or moving patients, or changing linens. May transfer or transport patients. Include nursing aides and attendants.
Responsibilities:
- Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary, and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
- Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine and recording intake and output information.
- Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor.
- Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential.
- Helps patients with personal hygiene and care such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and bowel and bladder care.
- Gathers information from caregivers, nurses, or physicians about patient condition, treatment plans, or appropriate activities.
- Complies with all safety and health regulations.
- Treats all patients, family, and other visitors with respect, and engages with them in a tactful manner at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must hold current CNA certification in the state of practice.
- Prior work experience in a direct patient care setting or in a long-term care facility preferred.
- Must be in good physical health to be able to lift and move patients, and to be able to walk or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be compassionate and personable.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
- Ability to handle emotional and stressful situations in a professional manner while remaining calm.
