The Griffon Long Life Extension (GLLE) program was granted by the Government of Canada to upgrade the CH146 Griffon helicopter's existing fleet of avionics systems, engines, cockpit displays and integrated sensor systems to meet the requirements of civil navigation and remain tactically viable until 2035.

In support of the CH146 ILS manager, and the GLLE Technical Publication Supervisor, in liaison with the appropriate staff and subject matter experts within BTCL and the CH146 Weapon System Management (WSM) organization, and using the applicable documents and standards, the Technical Publication writer participates in the creation and maintenance of the CH146 Maintenance manuals and other technical instructions.

Summary of job description

• Identify and analyze all the technical data required for the production and/or revision of the publication content (text and graphics).
• Create and/or revise structured documents in an XML environment. Occasionally, create and/or revise technical content for unstructured documents.
• Develop or update illustrations in flat plan, isometric, or cutaway views using various computer graphics programs.
• Perform impact analysis of new design changes on approved maintenance program and existing Maintenance manuals.
• Validate or participate in the validation of technical content, including participation in the First Article Installation process as required.
• Get organized to meet the deadlines allocated to tasks and ensure the accuracy and quality of the produced and/or revised technical content.
• Participate in the creation and/or upkeep of departmental standards and make recommendations to improve the Technical Publications processes.

Minimum required qualifications

• College degree in aircraft maintenance or related technical field. Other combinations of schooling and practical A/C Maintenance experience deemed equivalent will be considered.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in technical writing, product engineering or methods.
• Strong ability in interpreting Technical documentation such as Drawings, Specification, Standards, is required.
• Knowledge of PTC Arbortext Editor, or equivalent, MS Office and Adobe FrameMaker; knowledge of Enovia and/or Catia is required.
• Good knowledge of the S1000D and/or ATA iSpec 2200 specification; knowledge of STE100 is required.
• Functional knowledge in French is required.
• Functional knowledge in English is required for this position, as it involves communication in English with Bell teams outside of Quebec and/or its suppliers, partners, and clients outside of Quebec.
• Eligibility for award of a “NATO Secret” security clearance is essential.

Security Clearance:

Incumbent must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and will maintain NATO Secret security clearance as issued by the Controlled Goods Directorate of Canada’s Public Services and Procurement Canada and BTCL security officers.
