Wellness Centre Coordinator (Contract Position)

Salary: $3,448.00 monthly
Start Date: May 26th, 2025
End Date: August 29th, 2025

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse or a Registered Practical Nurse
  • Experience working with children in a medical capacity
  • Experience supervising or mentoring counsellors responsible for responding to medical incidents in outdoor based programs
  • Previous experience working with people of all abilities and a solid understanding of the integration process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Evidence of proof of COVID-19 vaccine
  • Three professional references

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Collecting and delivering daily and as-needed medications to campers
  • Education and encouraging healthy behaviours in campers and staff, including measures put in place to reduce illness
  • Stocking and keeping inventory of staff first aid kits
  • Assessing illness and injuries and recommending further diagnostics or treatments to camper families
  • Being available to help with on site and backcountry emergency response
  • Supervision of three staff
