What does a CBSA Security Guard in Surrey do?

As a CBSA guard, you will be responsible for monitoring people who have arrived at the airport and are experiencing immigration complications and cannot officially enter the country.

In this role you will:

• Ensure the protection of people, assets, and property.
• Escort people within the facility, using restraints to ensure the safety of everybody.
• Demonstrate empathy and compassion and a recognition that you are working with individuals under stress.
• Observe, monitor, and report on the behavior of detainees.
• Monitor and properly utilize security software and equipment.
• Generate daily incident reports.
• Utilize tactical training to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.

This work requires vigilance and efficiency, but also a talent for customer service and compassion as you will be working with people in a vulnerable situation.

Qualifications to become a CBSA Security Guard in Surrey:

• A valid British Columbia security guard license
• A valid and current First Aid Level 1 (OFA1)
• Advanced Security Training (AST)
• Canadian citizenship or Permanent residence status (MUST HAVE RESIDED IN CANADA FOR 5 YEARS)
• High School diploma / Proof of education
• Ability to pass a Public Works Clearance and a Vulnerable Sector Check
• 1-year of security guard experience
• Ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities
• Experience working in a high-stress environment with quick responsiveness to emergency situations
• Understanding of the importance of conciseness, security, and safety
