CASUAL SUPPORT STAFF for the 2024-2025 School Year
Recruiting for all zones: Lobstick, Edson, Hinton, Jasper and Grande Cache, Alberta.
Casual employees assist in areas of personal care and behaviour management under the supervision of teachers, principals and other child care professionals and are an integral part of the collaborative team.
Casual Employees Are Replacements For
- educational assistants;
- clerical staff;
- bus monitors.
Successful Candidate Responsibilities
- Provide support to students in an inclusive setting.
- Follow the direction of the Principal and classroom Teacher.
Successful Candidate Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or equivalency.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents and staff.
- Work collaboratively and co-operatively with teachers and other educational assistants in the classroom/school.
- Understands and carries out oral and written direction.
- Work independently with minimal instruction.
- Demonstrate effective organizational and communication skills.
- Respect confidentiality.
- Practice professionalism with all students, staff, administration, parents and public.
- Are aware of GYPSD policies and administrative procedures.
- Have experience working with young children.
- Have an understanding of the teaching/learning process.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and patience.
- Enjoys working in a team environment.

THE DIVISION
Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.
GYPSD schools offer a broad range of JK-12 programs. Principals focus on strong instructional leadership using generative dialogue to support teacher growth and supervision.
The Division is noted for its commitment to strong literacy practices infused across the curriculum, inclusive education and for its innovative technology programs.
