Casual Receptionist / Concierge

Park Place Seniors Living is looking for a casual receptionist to join our team in our Bolivar Creek Retirement Residence, Surrey, BC.

Under the supervision of the Office Manager, the ideal candidate is expected to deliver a professional and qualified first impression to all visitors.

This person must have excellent communication in English and customer service skills.

He / she must have a basic understanding of administrative and clerical procedures / systems and the ability to multitask in a busy environment. The receptionist will also facilitate lifestyle activities for our senior residents such as bingo, happy hour, board games, morning exercise, and trivia quizzes.

Responsibilities:

1. Guest services: Covers reception desk, welcomes guests, potential residents, and healthcare workers upon arrival, and clarifies the purpose of their visit and who they wish to see.
2. Handles all incoming phone calls and emails: Ensures prompt and accurate responses, and delivers inter-office messages as requested.
3. Administrative: Tracks and monitors resident attendance, manages document filing, and processes orders received via phone, ensuring accurate record-keeping and efficient communication.
4. Lifestyle: Organizes engaging activities for senior residents, including bingo, happy hour, board games, morning exercises, and trivia quizzes, to promote social interaction and overall well-being.
5. Emergency Responder: Responds to emergency pendants and can contact 911 in case of emergencies, such as when a resident falls, to ensure prompt medical assistance is provided.

Requirements:

1. Serving It Right Certificate
2. Clear criminal record security clearance with Vulnerable Sector included (no more than 6 months old)
3. Associates degree is preferred
4. A high school diploma is required
5. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications:

1. Reliable, professional, courteous, and patient
2. Demonstrates ability to maintain patience, care, and understanding dealing with senior residents
3. Excellent communication and writing skills in the English language
4. Reliable with attendance, working with all scheduled shifts in their entirety
5. Appropriately dressed
6. Handles all matters in a confidential manner
7. Must be able to work independently, and as part of the interdisciplinary team
