ONE Fertility Burlington is a state-of-the-art full service fertility centre devoted to providing specialized fertility care, counselling and treatment. As a Phlebotomist/Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will support ONE Fertility’s overall goal of providing excellent patient care by directly engaging with patients, supporting blood analysis lab, administration, operations and nursing teams.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collect blood from patients, log patient samples and prepare them for testing
Set up medical laboratory equipment and conduct routine laboratory tests and sample analyses
Clean and sterilize medical and laboratory equipment, ensuring overall cleanliness of the clinic
Communicate effectively with patients/families and interdisciplinary colleagues
Act as an effective team member by sharing opinions, discussing issues and finding solutions as a team
Report any critical incidents in a timely fashion to the Clinic Aid / Medical Laboratory Assistant Supervisor and participate in continuous quality assessment and risk management
Assist with the preparation of patient information packages, laboratory requisitions, filing of patient reports and other general office duties as required
Clean examination rooms, procedure rooms and collection rooms in between patients
Perform laundry duties, including washing and folding linens and uniforms
Stock examination rooms with supplies
Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of Grade 12 diploma is required
Completion of a Phlebotomy/Medical Laboratory Assistant program
Previous experience in a fertility clinic/medical setting is preferred
Familiarity with EMR and associated applications is preferred
Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
Self-motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated initiative and flexibility to meet workload demands
