Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Front of the House (FoH) Manager, the Porter is responsible for assisting service staff in maintaining the buffet, restaurant, and bar areas. Emphasis must be placed on exceptional customer service, as the Porter will be dealing directly with customers. The Porter is responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures within the Casino at all times and is required to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and health of guests while adhering to safe work practices at all times.

  • Provide excellent guest service consistent with Company's core service standards and brand attributes.
  • Assist the Servers in setting and resetting the tables during busy service periods.
  • Stock and re-stock stations with dry goods, glassware, dinnerware, and silverware.
  • Fill and replenish ice tubs (in buffet, blaze, and stage bar). Clean and wipe down at the end of the day.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of blaze restaurant, buffet, and buffet serving stations.
  • Assist the bartenders with stocking alcohol and beer. Bring clean glassware to the bar areas.
  • Assist the servers and bartenders in areas when and where required.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with all guests, food and beverage staff, and other casino departmental staff. Communicate any issues or needs of guests appropriately to management or co-worker(s).
  • Always report to work on time and in a clean uniform.
  • Maintain proper hygiene and grooming at all times.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Attend meetings and training programs when required.

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a high school diploma.
  • Specific Casino food and beverage experience would be an asset.
  • A valid Alberta Pro Serve Certificate must be obtained within the 90-day probationary period.

  • Must be available for shift work and able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment.
  • Able to lift 100 lbs to waist level.
