Tasks

1. Interview clients individually, in families, or in groups to assess their situation and problems to determine the types of services required.
2. Perform administrative tasks.
3. Plan programs of assistance for clients.
4. Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, and other services.
5. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals working with a client group.
6. Advocate on clients' behalf in courts or at hearings.
7. Apply for social program funding.
8. Provide clients with information.
9. Prepare reports or case histories.
10. Implement life skills workshops.
11. Appraise clients' needs or eligibility for specific services.
12. Assess clients' relevant skill strengths and development needs.
13. Conduct follow-up assessments.
14. Provide suicide and crisis intervention.
15. Resolve conflict situations.
16. Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research.
17. Screen, recruit, and train volunteers and support staff.
18. Provide supportive counselling and life skills programming.
19. Develop, co-ordinate, and implement the delivery of specific services within the community.
20. Assist clients/guests with special needs.
21. Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients.
22. Accompany clients to appointments and social outings.
