Carpenter (General Repair Technician GRT)
Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state, GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters, and more!
Responsible for…
- Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
- Framing
- Drywalling, mudding, sanding, and finishing
- Brush and roller painting
- Ceiling installation, knockdown, and texturing
- Insulation and vapour barrier installation
- Installation of doors, trim, moldings, baseboards, and hardware
- Cabinetry
What you bring
- Experience working in construction environments
- Tools and the skills to use them
- Strong people and communication skills
- Attention to detail, passion for quality, and pride in the work you do
- A safety mindset
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Ability to communicate in English
Other helpful qualifications (not mandatory):
- Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
- IICRC certification (restoration focus)
- WHMIS
- First Aid
Of Note
Disasters can strike at any time, so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after-hours on-call work is a requirement.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Experience:
- Home renovation: 1 year (preferred)
- Trim carpentry: 1 year (preferred)
- Rough carpentry: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Canadian Driver's License (required)
