Position Overview
The Carpenter is responsible for constructing, repairing, and installing structures and fixtures in accordance with building codes and project specifications. This role demands proficiency in both rough and finish carpentry, a solid understanding of construction mathematics, and the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings. The Carpenter ensures that all tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, contributing to the successful completion of construction and restoration projects. This role does not hold a carpentry certification but offers an intermediate to advanced understanding of carpentry fundamentals in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrate expertise in the safe operation of hand and power tools, including but not limited to temporary generators, ladders, table saws, routers, and sanding equipment;
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding as required;
- Assist with demolition activities and debris disposal;
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine project specifications and material requirements;
- Set up and take down of poly containment and drop sheets to accommodate work areas;
- Construct and secure temporary and permanent partitions using various building materials;
- Perform wood and steel stud framing applications;
- Install insulation and vapor barriers;
- Perform finish carpentry tasks, including cutting and installing wood framing, trim, baseboards, casing, doors, frames, and sheathing;
- Secure exterior building materials such as roofing and siding when required;
- Proactively communicate job site conditions and any concerns affecting project completion to the appropriate personnel;
- Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating attention to detail and safeguarding clients' property and information;
- Ensure a safe and compliant work environment by conducting hazard assessments, maintaining organized and hazard-free job sites, and ensuring proper use, maintenance, and storage of tools, equipment, and PPE. Promptly report and document unsafe conditions or incidents, actively participate in safety training and inspections, and support organizational safety initiatives as directed by the Health and Safety Department;
- Comply with all BELFOR policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements;
- Any other reasonable duties as assigned by their manager.
What You Bring
- High school Diploma/GED;
- 2+ years’ experience in a Carpenter role, or similar;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite;
- Knowledgeable in building code and construction math;
- Understanding of customer service principles and practices;
- Ability to work independently or as a team, as required;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a diversified workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Attention to detail and a keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and information;
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Nice to Have
- 1+ years of experience within the construction, restoration, or insurance industry;
- Journeyman Carpenter certification, or working towards the certification, is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Due to the nature of our business, this position will work normal business hours but may be required to work in the evenings, on-call, or outside normal working hours;
- Perform tasks requiring mobility in tight or confined spaces, sustained physical activity (standing, lifting, walking, bending, kneeling), and working at heights over 5 feet as needed;
- Travel to job sites is required.
