The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) – Saskatoon and University of Saskatchewan, Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac Surgery seek a Cardiac Surgeon with clinical and academic interests. The Division of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada qualified cardiac surgeon. The successful candidate will join two other Cardiac Surgeons and the team will serve to provide comprehensive cardiac surgical care to the northern half of Saskatchewan. Collective responsibilities include clinical care of inpatient and outpatient, as well as undergraduate teaching and training of postgraduate trainees.
The ideal candidate will have comprehensive skills in all aspects of general adult cardiac surgery preferably with a complementary fellowship. We are looking for a fully qualified surgeon able to independently and seamlessly step into a busy cardiac surgical practice well supported by cardiac anesthesiologists, clinical perfusion staff, excellent nursing staff and specialized surgical assistants. Further specialized training in minimally invasive (MIS) mitral valve surgery or Critical Care would be a significant advantage, but not necessary. Affiliation with the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine will provide the successful applicant ample time for research and academic pursuits.
