THE ROLE

This position reports to the General Manager. Training and development for this position will be supported by the Legends’ Regional Loss Prevention and Safety Specialist. This position provides you the opportunity to lead the safety program for Legends. You will act as a coach, trainer, mentor, and enforcer to support the venue level management team at the Rogers Centre.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Strategically develop annual goals regarding safety for venue management team.
  • Partner with venue clients to develop and train staff on emergency situation planning.
  • Develop and maintain an Emergency Preparedness Plan.
  • Identify, develop, and implement improved food and personal safety measurements with venue level management.
  • Conduct internal audits that have a focus on personal and food safety, and help the team to effectively execute against company standards and government requirements.
  • Train and assist others (managers, regional leaders, etc.) to complete their safety responsibilities.
  • Deliver training as required to large and small groups with varying levels of expertise and experience including food safety training, personal safety training for equipment, chemicals, etc. as needed.
  • Head of safety committee for F&B for Legends at the Rogers Centre.
  • Produce monthly safety bulletin for Legends employees at the Rogers Centre.
  • Assist venue with their relationship and partnership with local health department in conjunction with the regional Loss Prevention and Safety Specialist.
  • Coordinate, complete, track and report on all incidents including food and beverage related issues, accidents and incidents, etc.
  • Manage relationships and communication with applicable food, beverage and occupational safety governing bodies (WSIB, OSHA, etc.).
  • Limited lifting beyond computer and accompanying paperwork, but on occasion may need to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for safety.
  • Occupational Health and Safety certification and/or Health and Safety for the Workplace certification, JHSC Part 1&2, Food Handler Certifications, HAACP.
  • Calm demeanor in emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate compliance requirements to all levels of the organization.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues.
  • Previous work experience in a fast-paced, solutions-oriented retail or food/beverage organization. Experience in a stadium, food production facility, or convention center considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in health and safety in Ontario.
  • Food service safety experience in restaurant and/or food service industry required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; a combination of education and job experience will be considered.
  • Ability to analyze accident and audit data and create and implement new processes as needed to improve health and safety for all employees and Guests.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must be flexible to work hours associated with business requirements including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Experience with training and learning and development programs.
