Position Summary: Support the business in assessing commodity driven cost changes while maintaining internal tools and indexes which aids in this process.
What you'll do:
- Assess cost change requests from suppliers using MS Excel based models
- Use existing or build new item profiles based on raw material component breakdown
- Research correct commodity indexes and assign to profiles to assess if trends align with the proposed cost change
- Effectively communicate results to stakeholders
- Support stakeholders if supplier interaction is required
- Advocate for analyses, datasets and approach on vendor inquiries and pushback related to cost increases. Champion the use of commodity-analytics in vendor conversations related to cost increase and/or cost decreases.
- Support other internal Strategic Category Management teams and other stakeholders for ad hoc projects and analyses
- Leverage and interpret commodity data from multiple sources (Market research e.g. IHS, Mintec; local regulations, commodity tracking databases, web search) to analyze impact on product costs.
- Act as a thought-partner for the merchant teams on issues related to commodity pricing; be the subject matter expert
- Maintain the automation workflows of the commodity assessment process using Knime, R Studio, and ElementAI
- Strong technical skills in building automation workflows and create user-friendly outputs for immediate action.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree or higher is preferred
- 4-5 years of experience in a consultative role focused on analysis either in finance, costing, pricing, or sourcing departments.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to draw conclusions and make recommendations from large data sets.
- Strong relationship building, communication, and influencing skills; Ability to develop credibility and good working relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and general business acumen
- Expert experience using MS Excel is required
- Intermediate experience using Knime, R Studio, and ElementAI is required
- Some experience in SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Dataiku, and commodity tracking databases (IHS, Mintec) is preferred
- Merchandising experience is preferred
