Job description

Position Summary... The Learning Designer supports the Senior Manager, Learning Design in development, research, design and evaluation of new training programs and the redesign of existing training programs. The role partners with the Learning Project Manager, business stakeholders, project teams, the systems implementation team and the Walmart Academy Facilitators during the design, content development and implementation lifecycle. They will also field requests for urgent content updates, provide learning consultation and manage ad hoc requests as required. The learning design function is guided by an evolving SLA which centres on user experience and the measurable effectiveness of training. The Learning Designer will develop and accelerate associate capabilities (frameworks, process, and systems) using the ADDIE instructional design methodology (assess, develop, design, implement, evaluate) using blended learning solutions.

What you'll do...

  1. Assess, design, develop, and implement sustainable blended learning and knowledge management solutions relating to principles/frameworks, procedures, and technologies with the goal of maximizing learner experience, increasing knowledge retention, and providing flexible learning.
  2. Audit, leverage, and adapt learning collateral from other Walmart Canada teams as well as our Walmart US/International partners.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure learning solutions directly address business needs, are aligned with corporate best practices, and effectively drive performance.
  4. Leverage instructional design and digital media expertise, best practices, and knowledge into blended learning solutions that result in a positive user experience and behaviour change.
  5. Develop learning that meets the proposed outcomes and delivers on learning metrics. Apply Level 1-4 evaluation (reaction, learning, transfer/behaviour, and impact) to measure the effectiveness of blended learning solutions and provide reports and recommendations for continuous improvement of learning initiatives.
  6. If/when applicable, liaise with external learning vendors, including end to end project management of externally-developed learning solutions.
  7. Actively maintain existing documentation and content to ensure it is up to date and technically validated.
  8. Stay abreast of industry trends and development. Make recommendations to streamline, modernize and evolve our learning function within Walmart.
