Role

The Gardener’s role is to manage and maintain the gardens and woodland at Camas and Iona.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and maintaining the Camas organic garden and woodlands.
  • Managing the small Iona Abbey garden through regular visits and work.
  • Facilitating the use of the garden as a space for engagement.
  • Supporting staff and visitors to feel confident in being part of the daily upkeep of the garden, knowing when to pick and use produce and teaching basic gardening skills.

Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Islands Estate Manager, the Camas Maintenance Worker’s role is to undertake general maintenance work on the facilities and equipment at the Camas Centre and occasionally on Iona.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the Camas facilities and equipment are maintained to a safe and high standard, while observing Camas’ environmental and ethical policies. Facilities include the Camas buildings, grounds and track.
  • Coordinating and supervising visitors and volunteers in routine maintenance work.
  • Liaising with and working alongside outside contractors where necessary.
  • Supporting maintenance projects on Iona where required.
  • Remote: Home based with 5 online meetings per year.
  • Closing 24th April 2025.

Director Positions

The Iona Community Trading CIC is seeking two Directors to join our Board. As the trading arm of the Iona Community, we are committed to justice, peace, and ethical retail. We run two separate businesses, a shop on the island of Iona and a small Christian publishing company called Wild Goose Publications. All profits generated from these businesses are used to support the charitable works of the Iona Community.

Who are we?

The Iona Community Trading CIC is the trading arm of the Iona Community, which is an international, ecumenical Christian movement working for justice and peace, the rebuilding of community, and the renewal of worship.

Role Overview

We are hoping to appoint 2 Directors who will help oversee the work of Iona Community Trading. Your role will include:

  • Oversight of Iona Community Trading.
  • Sharing insight into running a small publishing house with the Iona Community Trading CIC Board.
  • Employing staff.
  • Communicating with the Head of Community Resources.

We are looking to help you unlock your potential and for you to help us unlock ours. Training and mentoring will be provided to support you in this important role as you help guide the future of Iona Community Trading CIC.

Family and Youth Worker Position

Are you enthusiastic about working with families and young people? Do you have a passion for sharing your faith? Do you have a heart for working in the community? Then you may be the right person to join Granton Baptist Church as our new Family and Youth Worker.

We are looking for someone with vision and enthusiasm who can work with us to enable, support, and grow our existing Christian ministry with families and young people in the church, local schools, and within the wider community; and to explore new potential for outreach. Working with parents, other agencies, and organisations including schools and 3rd Sector providers.

Administrator Position

Established in January 2025, Leith and Restalrig Church (LARCH) is a new Church of Scotland congregation, formed from the previous congregations of Leith St Andrew’s, Pilrig St Paul’s, and Restalrig St Margaret’s. Our mission is ‘Sharing God’s love with all, serving their needs with inspiration, encouragement, and fellowship’.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Administrator to help deliver the smooth and effective administration of our office and provide a first point of contact for queries from members of the congregation, as well as members of the wider community (including contractors).
