Job description

Work Term: Permanent

Work Language: English

Hours: 30 hours per week

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years

Tasks

  1. Analyze budget to boost and maintain the restaurant's profits
  2. Develop budget to determine cost of food, ingredients, alcohol, kitchen and cleaning supplies
  3. Evaluate daily operations
  4. Modify food preparation methods and menu prices according to the restaurant budget
  5. Monitor revenues to determine labour cost
  6. Monitor staff performance
  7. Plan and organize daily operations
  8. Recruit staff
  9. Set staff work schedules
  10. Supervise staff
  11. Train staff
  12. Determine type of services to be offered and implement operational procedures
  13. Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports and related forms
  14. Conduct performance reviews
  15. Cost products and services
  16. Enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations
  17. Organize and maintain inventory
  18. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  19. Negotiate arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies
  20. Negotiate with clients for catering or use of facilities
  21. Participate in marketing plans and implementation
  22. Address customers' complaints or concerns
  23. Provide customer service
  24. Manage events

  3. Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.)
  4. Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.)
  5. Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition
  6. Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees
  7. Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees
  8. Does not require Canadian work experience

Support for youths

  1. Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment
  2. Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth
  3. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth
  4. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth

Support for Veterans

  1. Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Veterans
  2. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Veterans
  3. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans
  4. Recruits Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives (for example: job fairs, outreach programs etc.)
  5. Assists with immediate transition needs of Veterans (for example: relocation, housing, etc.)
  6. Offers workshops, counselling services or other resources to help Veterans navigate their transition into the civilian workforce (for example: adapting to different organizational structures)
  7. Supports Veterans in translating their military skills and experience into the language of the civilian job market
  8. Offers flexible onboarding options to allow Veterans to gradually adapt to the civilian workplace (for example: gradually increasing hours and responsibilities, etc.)

Support for Indigenous people

  1. Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people
  2. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
  3. Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations
  4. Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers
  5. Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers

Support for mature workers

  1. Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers
  2. Applies hiring policies that discourage age discrimination
  3. Provides staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers
  4. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for mature workers
  5. Offers phased retirement options that allow mature workers to gradually reduce their workload (for example: flexible or reduced work hours, part time employment, project-based or seasonal work, etc.)
  6. Offers phased re-entry options for mature workers who are returning to work after retiring (for example: gradually increasing hours and responsibilities)
  7. Provides workspace accommodations, such as age-appropriate ergonomic considerations, to meet the physical needs of mature workers (for example: adjustable desks and chairs, accessible parking, etc.)
  8. Offers resources to help mature workers plan their retirement (for example: financial planning, access to pension and benefits, lifestyle adjustments, etc.)

Supports for visible minorities

  1. Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities
  2. Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities (for example: anonymizing the hiring process, etc.)
  3. Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees
  4. Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities
