About Us: The Ship Group Behavioral Health & Community Services is launching structured outpatient programs for individuals recovering from substance use disorders. We are seeking a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) to support our new SAIOP (Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program) and SACOT (Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment) programs through therapeutic group facilitation and recovery support.
Position Summary: Under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) or Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), the CADC will provide direct care and support to clients in SAIOP and SACOT. The role focuses on facilitating group therapy sessions, supporting individualized treatment plans, and delivering recovery-focused interventions in accordance with Medicaid Clinical Coverage Policy 8A.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate structured group therapy, psychoeducational, and activity-based sessions for SAIOP and SACOT clients.
Implement approved curriculum and treatment interventions that align with individualized Person-Centered Plans (PCPs).
Use evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Matrix Model, and 12-Step Facilitation.
Support client engagement and participation in group settings and ensure a safe, respectful therapeutic environment.
Monitor, document, and report client attendance, group participation, progress toward goals, and any notable behaviors.
Work with the clinical team to provide input on treatment planning, relapse prevention strategies, and recovery needs.
Coordinate with care team members to support client access to resources such as medical care, housing, and employment services.
Ensure that all documentation (progress notes, session logs, reports) meets Medicaid and agency standards.
Attend clinical supervision, treatment team meetings, and required agency trainings.
Uphold client confidentiality and practice ethically in all interactions.
Qualifications:
Active Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) credential in North Carolina.
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience working in outpatient substance use treatment, preferably SAIOP or SACOT.
Excellent group facilitation and documentation skills.
Team-oriented mindset with a client-centered, recovery-focused approach.
Familiarity with ASAM Levels of Care and Medicaid service documentation (preferred).
Ability to work collaboratively under supervision in a team-based environment.

SAIOP Day Groups: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
