Job Summary
Our Delta, BC location of Zodiac Hurricane Technologies has an immediate opening for Purchaser/Buyer in our Purchasing Department. This position is permanent, full-time, working Monday through Friday starting at 7 am.
We are seeking individuals with a positive mindset and attention to detail to join our team. Candidates must be willing to work hard in a fast-paced team environment and under pressure to meet deadlines. Willingness to learn with training provided.
The Purchaser/Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services necessary for the organization's operations. This role involves analyzing market trends, evaluating supplier options, and managing inventory levels to ensure optimal supply chain efficiency. The Purchaser/Buyer will collaborate with various departments to understand their procurement needs, develop purchasing strategies, and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
Attention to detail, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to make data-driven decisions are essential for success in this position. The ideal candidate will contribute to cost savings, quality improvement, and timely delivery of products, supporting the overall goals of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, researching to determine the best options in terms of quality, price, and delivery.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve favourable pricing and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Monitor market trends, including pricing fluctuations, availability of products, and emerging industry developments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, and quality assurance, to ensure timely delivery and efficient supply chain management.
- Assess supplier performance through regular evaluation and feedback mechanisms and address any issues or concerns as they arise.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve procurement processes, identify cost-saving initiatives, and implement best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements, and apply knowledge to enhance purchasing strategies.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Data entry experience with ERP systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in managing purchase orders and inventory.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
- Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English.
- Strong computer skills with intermediate experience in Excel.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented, coordinate and collaborate with different stakeholders while operating in a fast-paced and dynamic organization.
- Possess good time management skills, understands how to prioritize, and works well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- An interest in boats and boating would be an asset.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment is an asset.
