Business Intelligence Engineer - Power BI [BHJOB13022_13604]

On behalf of our Public Sector Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for a Business Intelligence Engineer (Power BI) to join our Client's team on a 6-month contract, with the possibility of two 3-month extensions. This role is Remote, with occasional onsite requirements, and the Client is based in Victoria, BC.

Summary of the Role:

Our client is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to support the migration of reports from SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to Power BI and Azure Cloud tools. The successful candidate will develop complex dashboards, paginated reports, and SQL datasets while ensuring a seamless transition from legacy reporting platforms.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement medium- to high-complexity Power BI dashboards and paginated reports.
2. Extract, transform, and analyze data from complex data stores.
3. Work independently to understand legacy reports and port logic to Power BI and SQL.
4. Collaborate with stakeholders to design data visualization solutions with an optimal user experience.
5. Support technical data analysis and data governance efforts.

Core Requirements:

1. Degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
2. Minimum 3 years of experience developing business intelligence solutions, reports, and dashboards.
3. Proficiency in SQL and Power BI, including dashboard and paginated report development.
4. Experience conducting technical data analysis and transforming data from complex data stores.
5. Ability to design and develop advanced data visualizations.

Desired Skills & Experience:

1. Knowledge of the investment management industry.
2. Experience with agile development and tools (e.g., Jira).
3. Familiarity with SSRS and prior migration experience.
4. Project management experience.

Terms:

This is a 6-month contract, with the possibility of two 3-month extensions. The role is Remote, with occasional onsite requirements at the Client’s British Columbia location. Successful candidates must complete a background check and provide two references before an offer is extended.
