Summary
The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for the delivery of reporting and dashboard solutions across the enterprise. You will gather requirements and expected outcomes from stakeholders, create design documents, design, build, and deploy reports and dashboards to meet defined requirements. You will also assist with ensuring accuracy of source data, enabling one source of truth across the enterprise.

What You’ll Do – The Role (Responsibilities)

  • Create dynamic, visually appealing dashboards in Power BI that are accessible and easy to interpret.
  • Work with data from various sources, including Azure Data Warehouse and associated technologies, SQL Server, and Excel.
  • Gather business requirements and success metrics from stakeholders.
  • Create accurate data models that transform raw data into insightful information by importing, cleansing, and converting data.
  • Define relationships between tables and implement calculations and measures.
  • Establish role-based access to reports through row-level security and Power BI application security layers.
  • Assist the data management team with ETL processes.
  • Work with data acquired via M&A activities, cleansing and converting for use in TPGS Power BI reports.
  • Create non-BI reports including SSRS or Excel reports, if required.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team on reports containing financial metrics.
  • Write and maintain cohesive documentation including a report library, purpose, and definitions.

What You Need (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or a combination of skills, certifications, and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ BI development experience within a midsized organization.
  • Prior experience working within a small data team with multiple areas of responsibility is mandatory for this position.
  • Experience with the Microsoft BI stack including Power BI, Azure Data Factory, SQL, SSIS and SSRS.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge building semantic models, measures, and calculations in Power BI.
  • Experience with programming languages to analyze and interpret data, such as SQL, R, and Python.
  • Prior experience with TimeXtender is considered a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL concepts.
  • Knowledge of executing DAX queries on Power BI Desktop.
  • Present a professional image to the Company’s customers and suppliers maintaining the highest ethical standard of conduct.
  • Follow all Company Health and Safety Policies and Guidelines and Privacy Policies.
  • In the case of a power outage or declared State of Emergency by any level of Government in Ontario, be available for work.

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations and training.
  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Lifting or moving up to 30lbs may be required.
