Business Intelligence & Data Analytics Lead

The Opportunity:

Our client, one of the largest and fastest-growing propane distribution companies in Canada, is seeking a skilled Business Intelligence (BI) & Data Analytics Lead to drive data-driven decision-making by delivering insightful analytics solutions. In this role, you will develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, optimize SQL databases, and build automated data pipelines to ensure seamless access to accurate and actionable insights. This is a critical position that will enhance reporting capabilities and empower business teams with strategic data solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Design, develop, and maintain dynamic Power BI dashboards that provide real-time business insights.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures to extract, transform, and load data from MS SQL Server databases.
• Develop automated data pipelines to ensure seamless data flow, supporting business needs.
• Utilize programming skills to create custom data processing and reporting automation solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data integrity, report performance, and Power BI functionality.
• Apply best practices in data visualization, data modeling, and database optimization.
• Maintain documentation of data processes, technical specifications, and reporting procedures.
• Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for existing reports and dashboards.
• Stay ahead of industry trends by exploring new technologies, Power BI advancements, and evolving data analytics methodologies.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful:

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related field with a strong focus on Power BI.
• Proven expertise in Power BI dashboard development and data visualization best practices.
• Strong proficiency in MS SQL Server, including query writing, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Mid-to-advanced level programming skills in languages such as Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with ETL processes and integrating data from multiple sources.
• Experience working with Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Power BI Embedded).
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a results-oriented mindset.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with additional BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik).
• Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling principles.
