Job Title : Business Intelligence Architect

We are looking for a BI Architect to join our team and will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of business intelligence (BI) solutions for customers in the enterprise across multiple business lines and technical platforms. Provides production support for users of internally developed BI technologies both inside and outside the enterprise to enhance BI architecture, design, and development. Assess existing data sources and translate into new BI Solutions and tools which support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

  1. Designs, develops, implements, and supports highly complex BI applications of strategic or functional importance for an enterprise audience including: integration with data sources; highly automated data refresh processes; best-in-class data visualizations, dashboards, and reports that communicate critical insights to drive decision making; testing methodology and criteria to ensure data/information quality; delivery of training and demos to business users.
  2. With minimal direction, develops standards, policies, and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of the BI tools and systems. Assist with creation of a robust, sustainable, and scalable Risk Intelligence BI architecture that supports requirements and provides for expansion.
  3. Design and implement conceptual and logical models for the data warehouse or data mart (data structure, storage, and integration). Lead the database analysis, design, and build efforts.
  4. Develops enterprise standards and best practices to ensure compatibility, scalability, and integration with other data platforms.
  5. Identifies, researches, and resolves highly complex technical problems associated with production BI applications.
  6. Researches new technology and develops business cases to support enterprise-wide BI solutions.
  7. Leads technical project team and responsibilities using project management standards and methodologies. Develops project management artifacts and documentation.
  8. Define, capture, and document metadata and rules associated with ETL processes, Develop and test ETL processes.
  9. Develops solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system implementation, upgrades, or support issues.
  10. Utilizes data-mining skills and business knowledge to convert raw data into solutions that provide clear and concise insights into the health of the business.
  11. Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines.
  12. Perform research that enables learning the semantics of data (images, video, text, audio, and other modalities).
  13. Work with end users, business analysts, technical team, and developers to define the data requirements and data structure for BI solutions.
  14. Makes recommendations to improve operational processes relative to efficiency and effectiveness; provides input and organizational context to major architectural designs to ensure consistency, maintainability, and flexibility with respect to overall system.

Qualifications :

  1. The position requires a bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience in data warehouse/BI intelligence architecture, design, and development. Significant experience as BI/DW architect on several BI/DW initiatives/projects.
  2. Experience in BI development using the Microsoft Power BI platform.
  3. Excellent understanding of Microsoft Power platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) and other Microsoft BI platforms (SSRS, SSAS, etc.).
  4. Ability to specify and document data warehouse and data mart requirements.
  5. Ability to provide critical architectural input including evaluating, proposing, and selecting appropriate design alternatives which meet functional requirements.
  6. Strong experience with ETL tools such as SSIS and SAS, as well as familiarity with standard data extract, de-duping, cleansing, integration, and aggregation techniques and best practices.
  7. Experience in sourcing data from disparate systems with a good understanding of their Data Models and ETL procedures.
  8. Deliver visualizations for use on mobile devices.
  9. SQL query writing, data manipulation, data cleansing, and database design principles.
  10. Data visualization technologies such as Tableau, QlikView, Cognos, etc.
  11. SQL Server and Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, VBA).
  12. Possesses a strong aptitude/passion for creative problem solving when dealing with ambiguity.
  13. Strong project management skills with high attention to detail on data and a strong focus on meeting deliverables with time limitations - must have ability to multitask and prioritize.
  14. The ability to facilitate prototyping sessions with a variety of end users and stakeholders.
  15. Strong technical background with relational and dimensional modeling skills. Ability to manage projects end to end.
  16. Must have proven leadership skills supported by excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

Person Specification

Works collaboratively as a senior member of the Business Intelligence & Reporting team. Designs, architects, develops, and maintains business intelligence (BI), data warehousing (DW) reporting systems, and other business applications. Acts as a project lead/architect on multi-team projects and uses advanced, expert-level skill set to design, architect, develop, test, troubleshoot, and support BI and reporting-related projects and associated solutions/applications. Serves as a mentor to others learning essential and advanced BI and/or reporting-related skills.
