Business Development Advisor

The Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound (TBC) is looking for a strategic, resourceful, service driven individual to fulfill our Business Development Advisor position, focusing on assisting entrepreneurs and new business owners through their startup journey, as well as coordinating our Starter Company program. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping others succeed while supporting and inspiring our region's entrepreneurs. The Business Development Advisor (BDA) will work with entrepreneurs through one-on-one consultations and support them through their journey, whether it be exploring entrepreneurship, during the startup phase, or early-stage business growth. The BDA will respond to general business inquiries, meet with clients virtually and/or in person, and provide direction through support with business plan development, connections to key business supports and professionals, and assistance accessing appropriate funding opportunities.
The Business Development Advisor will also coordinate the Starter Company Plus Program; a provincially funded initiative that supports entrepreneurs in their startup phase by providing training, professional development opportunities, and the potential to pitch for a grant. The BDA will oversee all aspects of the program including marketing, client onboarding, scheduling training and speakers, workshop delivery and hosting, management of clients through their participation in the program, assisting participants with business plan development and preparation for a pitch to a grant committee, record keeping, and assistance with reporting as required by the Executive Director.
Skills relating to problem solving, business plan development, program delivery, presentation skills, networking, team support, and time management are essential to this position.
The Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound is a Not-for-Profit organization, located at City Hall, North Bay, covering both the Nipissing and Parry Sound regions. The candidate will have the ability to work from both office and home, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional obligations after hours which will contribute to lieu time. This is a full-time, permanent, salaried position with paid vacation time and a paid parking pass.
Key Tasks:
In addition, the Business Development Advisor will assist The Business Centre team by providing additional support, and assistance with other program and training facilitation, outreach, and resource development.
