BUSINESS ANALYST - PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF POSITION:
The purpose of the position is to generate the strategic business intelligence needed to support business and operational data-driven decision making. The position focuses on the utilization of data visualization software such as Microsoft Power BI to enable visibility on business and operational performance metrics, leading and lagging indicators, as well as reporting requirements; working in collaboration with multiple departments for citizen-user interface as well as the development, maintenance, and sustenance of required digital infrastructure to support business data management processes.
The Business Analyst also participates in the development of strategic operating plans, budgets, and forecasts in accordance with the company’s short, mid, and long-term strategic objectives and supports business and operations personnel to ensure that objectives are achieved at all operating sites within area of accountabilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Intelligence & Data Management- Design, construct, and maintain digital data infrastructure to support effective and efficient data analysis.
- Ensure that critical data is available, accessible, and communicated across the organization to provide valuable business insights.
- Develop clean, accurate, and transformed data sets for analysis, ensuring consistency and quality across various sources.
- Conduct data warehousing, data architecture, and data performance optimizations, collaborating with relevant departments to improve data flow and accessibility.
- Apply industry best practices to both basic and advanced analytics methodologies to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify key data-driven questions and create data solutions to meet their needs.
- Build and maintain Microsoft Power BI dashboards and reports to streamline corporate reporting and improve decision-making.
- Execute exploratory analysis, transforming raw data into meaningful insights that guide business strategies.
- Use statistical techniques and analytics tools to extract actionable insights from data, focusing on enhancing operational productivity and business performance.
- Contribute to the development of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics models to support business operations.
- Assist in developing and implementing machine learning models and predictive analytics to optimize business processes.
Budget and Forecasting
- Support the assembly and continuous improvement of business and project-specific forecasts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Assist in the development of annual operating and capital budgets, working closely with senior management to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
- Collaborate with project teams to track financial performance and provide insights to adjust financial forecasts as needed.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement- Regularly track and communicate insights derived from data analysis to leadership and other key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in data analysis practices and implement changes to enhance efficiency.
- Perform other duties and take on projects as assigned to support business objectives and improve processes across the organization.
Collaboration & Strategic Development
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the operationalization of data-driven insights.
- Actively participate in developing business strategies that are aligned with organizational goals and drive maximum value.
- Contribute to the integration of technical, tactical, and administrative strategies into standard operating practices across departments.
- Facilitate decision-making processes at various organizational levels through data-backed insights and actionable recommendations.

WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or data visualization within the mining, construction, or engineering industries.
- Computer programming language is considered an asset.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) is an asset.
