Business Analyst – Capital Markets, Reg Trade Reporting

Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Business Analyst – Capital Markets, Reg Trade Reporting to define business solutions for the requirements. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in Role:

Project: The bank aims to migrate its current FINRA Electronic Blue Sheets reporting and FINRA Consolidated Audit Trail reporting to a vendor application called N-tier. As part of this project, there is a requirement to support the existing operations controls and prepare operations readiness, such as standard operating procedures. The project is run in various phases to integrate different sources into the vendor platform and streamline report submissions to the regulator.

• Soliciting and writing business requirements in response to the regulations
• Executing and creating test cases
• Building controls around the solution (process, database solution)
• Reading rules and understanding business requirements, writing test cases
• Interacting with the following stakeholders: Technology group, compliance, legal, and other business stakeholders (confirmations, settlements) 25-30% in meetings/working groups to understand how everything comes together and the overall impact
• Running various regulatory controls, publishing metrics, participating in project calls, etc.

Must-Have Skills:

• 8-10 years as a Business Analyst
• Recent project experience with regulatory trade reporting – CAT, SFTR, EBS preferred
• Well-balanced understanding of regulations in business and technology

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Experience with Electronic Blue Sheets, Consolidated Audit Trails
• General understanding of operations and experience in any control functions

• Problem-solving skills

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree, post-secondary, or relevant work experience
