Job description

HM Note : This hybrid contract role is three (3) days in office. Candidates' resumes must include first and last name. This opportunity commences April 1, 2025.

Responsibilities :

  1. Provides a comprehensive range of I&IT business analysis services for clients with diverse business and technological needs.
  2. Interacts with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand their requirements through gathering, documenting, and analyzing business needs and requirements.
  3. Prepares and advises on business analysis policies, processes, best practices, and standards to promote a comprehensive and consistent business analysis practice within the organization.
  4. Leads and conducts business analysis to assess clients’ business problems / opportunities and documents the business requirements in such a way that I&IT solutions can be determined.
  5. Applies re-engineering concepts to promote business improvements through alternative and cost-effective service delivery approaches.
  6. Leads and conducts business analysis at varying levels of detail appropriate to the project and phases of the project, aligning with OPS Unified Project Management Methodology, Enterprise Architecture and Gating Process, and OPS Standard Systems Development Methodologies.
  7. Develops strategies, prepares business cases and cost-benefit analysis, and conducts feasibility studies for business I&IT initiatives.
  8. Develops sound processes for requirements gathering including but not limited to JAD sessions, interviews, mockups, etc.
  9. Conducts business modeling; use case modeling; conceptual and logical data modeling; process and data flow modeling; use case surveys; business rules definition and non-functional requirements definitions for assigned projects.
  10. Monitors progress, resolves problems, and reports regularly to I&IT management and stakeholders.
  11. Develops performance measures and traceability matrices for business analysis evaluation and conducts follow-up.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements :

  1. Experience developing strategies, preparing business cases, and cost-benefit analysis.
  2. Experience conducting requirements gathering, developing documentation, including presentations and briefing notes, and conducting stakeholder engagement.
  3. Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools to document conceptual requirements and scope.
  4. Awareness of emerging I&IT trends and technologies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  5. A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
  7. Ability to translate business and data requirements into specifications sufficient for designing appropriate technology solutions.
  8. Experience with a wide range of methods, tools, and techniques for business analysis such as business functional modeling, business event modeling, and business process mapping.
  9. Experience in structured, object-oriented, and agile methodologies for user requirements.
  10. Experience developing performance measures for business analysis evaluation and subsequent follow-up.
  11. Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.

MUST HAVES :

  1. Knowledge of business analysis including enterprise level and client program area business analysis and modeling expertise; related business analysis tools, technology, processes, and methodologies; business analysis-related technical and business planning.
  2. Software development life cycle, design, development, and integration; database concepts; user interface design principles.
  3. Knowledge of enterprise architectural concepts specifically in the area of business architecture.
  4. Knowledge of current trends and emerging technologies, specifically as it relates to business-driven IT solutions.
  5. Knowledge of service delivery management, portfolio, and program and project management in complex and dynamic IT environments.
