Job Description:

On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is looking for a Business Analyst to work on multiple projects showcasing the ability to do requirements definition, business process analysis and reengineering, business casing, commercial software evaluation and selection, and other BA duties as needed.

Responsibilities:

  1. The Senior BA may work on multiple projects so should have the ability to do requirements definition, business process analysis and reengineering, business casing, commercial software evaluation and selection, and other BA duties as needed.
  2. Analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions by critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources, reconciling conflicts, decomposing high-level information into details, abstracting up from low-level information to a general understanding, distinguishing user requests from the underlying true needs, and driving and challenging business assumptions.
  3. Elicit business requirements by engaging key stakeholders and subject matter experts, and using methods such as interviews, environmental scanning, document reviews, business process descriptions, “use case” scenarios and workflow analysis.
  4. Define business processes, workflows and features.
  5. Develop detailed artifacts and specifications that cover scoping, options, estimates, and user acceptance testing for complex initiatives, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  6. Facilitate consensus on issues, including business design features, program changes, data requirements, privacy issues and reports. Prepare in-depth business and analytical reports for executives.
  7. Lead and perform feasibility studies and workload efficiency analyses.
  8. Identify information system deficiencies, operational inefficiencies, and methods to enhance business functions.
  9. Assist with user acceptance testing to verify and validate developed solutions.
  10. Engage and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  11. Act as a liaison between technical teams, management, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment with business strategy.
  12. Develop project proposals, project summaries and other related documentation using standard templates.
  13. Develop business cases to support funding requests that validate the business need and clarify the alignment to strategic objectives and priorities. Document all requirements, research, findings and agreements, succinctly and clearly, without technical jargon and unnecessary complexity.
  14. Research and stay current on technology products within the marketplace, as well as maintains a deep understanding of the inventory of products available internally, in order to assess and identify the solution options that would satisfy the business needs.
  15. Collaborate with and act as the key bridging relationship resource among various business departments and technology specialists. Provide process and planning expertise to business leaders. Notify management and key stakeholders in real-time of important developments, potential problems and related information. Foster and maintain relationships with services providers and stakeholders to ensure knowledge is current and aligned with product and governance strategies.
  16. Prepare and deliver professional presentations and business reports that support the processes that plan and deliver technology solutions.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Business Analyst with a track record of successful projects.
  3. Strong experience with requirements definition and documentation.
  4. Strong experience with business process analysis, reengineering and documentation.
  5. Experience with commercial software evaluation and selection.
  6. Experience preparing tender documents such as RFPs.
  7. Experience developing business cases for upcoming IT and business initiatives.
  8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex projects.
  9. Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terminology.
  10. Strong interpersonal skills.
  11. Experience with Jira.
  12. Ability to communicate technically and non-technically to diverse audiences.
  13. Ability to create impactful presentations and project artifacts.
  14. Talent for translating detailed information into visual summaries for presentations and comprehensive project artifacts.
  15. Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem solving environment, utilizing advanced critical thinking capabilities.
  16. Strong facilitation skills to present findings from analysis of business need to multiple stakeholders.
  17. Effective at asking questions throughout the enterprise to determine how to eliminate silos and create an enterprise view.
  18. Strong knowledge of current technology in the marketplace.
  19. Formal education and certification such as the Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent, is considered an asset.

Hourly rate: $90 per hour.
