White Spot is currently seeking a Business Analyst to strengthen our operations. The Business Analyst will be instrumental in recommending practical solutions based on their analytical findings. This position requires working at our Home Office located at 8223 Sherbrooke Street in Vancouver for the first 2 months; thereafter there is flexibility for some remote work.

As an integral member of the Business Intelligence (BI) Data Team, the Business Analyst will leverage data to optimize operational performance and support strategic decision-making. Reporting to Operations, this role involves analyzing data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. The analyst will build and maintain dashboards, conduct root-cause analyses, develop predictive models, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance efficiency and resource allocation. By ensuring data accuracy, aligning with governance standards, and fostering a data-driven culture, the Business Analyst will directly contribute to the success of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve operational performance
- Work closely with the Directors of Operations to align data insights with business priorities and operational goals
- Partner with operations teams to identify data requirements, implement tracking mechanisms, and support performance improvement initiatives
- Conduct root-cause analysis of operational challenges and make recommendations based on data
- Develop predictive models to forecast operational performance and guide resource allocation
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of operational programs
- Collaborate with the BI Data Team to ensure that operational data is aligned with enterprise-wide data governance policies
- Support the integration of operational data into organizational data warehouses and BI platforms
- Maintain the accuracy and consistency of operational data
- Provide regular updates and insights to leadership on operational trends, challenges, and successes
- Benchmark operational metrics against industry standards to identify areas for competitive improvement
- Train operations staff on data tools and dashboards to foster a data-driven culture within the department
- Act as the primary point of contact for operations-related data inquiries and ad-hoc analysis requests
- Support the Data Team as needed with ad hoc requests and projects
Requirements
- Degree in business analysis, computer science, or a related field, complemented by at least 2 years of relevant professional experience
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI
- Hands-on experience with SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis
- Knowledge of operational KPIs and experience working with operational data systems (e.g., point-of-sale, inventory & labour management)
- Strong statistical and modeling skills for forecasting and performance evaluation
- Skilled at creating visual representations of data to clearly and effectively convey insights
- Familiarity with data governance best practices
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Meticulous attention to detail coupled with a dedication to data accuracy
- Proven capability to work autonomously and effectively manage multiple priorities

Nice to have
- Certifications: CDMP (DAMA), CBAP, CCBA, AAC (IIBA), or equivalent are a plus.
- Project Management: Experience in an Agile work environment and knowledge of change management methodologies.
- Industry Knowledge: Having a solid grasp of the hospitality industry’s dynamics and the ability to connect data with business problem-solving is important. While knowledge can be gained on the job, initial familiarity is beneficial.
