Job Title: Clinical Business Analyst
Location: Fredericton, NB
Duration: 2 years


Job Description:
The Client requires Clinical Business Analysts (CBA) to support the CIS Program. The role of Documentation BA encompasses several activities to develop clinical standards for use throughout New Brunswick. The primary focus is to support the creation of standard order sets, documentation templates, and other workflows used by physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other regulated health professionals providing bedside care.


The Documentation BA will be required to work closely with other team members, Subject Matter Experts (SME), and clinical stakeholders in the gathering of business requirements and design of new standards to be adopted province wide. This role serves as a subject matter expert on the impact that CISs and the digitization of clinical processes will have on the design of content, workflows, and procedures.


With the support of the Clinical Team Lead and Project Manager, the Documentation BA will be responsible for:

  1. Supporting the standardization of Clinical Documentation practices and related workflows used throughout the health care system.
  2. Acting as a subject matter expert on the impact that the CIS and digitization of clinical processes will have on the design of Clinical Documentation processes, workflows, and procedures.
  3. Facilitating engagement sessions to document the current state and engage feedback on future state processes.
  4. Gathering and defining business and system requirements, conducting gap analysis, and completing current state and future design workflows.
  5. Supporting seamless adoption of new Clinical Documentation standards.
  6. Collaborating closely with project teams to ensure the smooth delivery and implementation of the clinical standardization project, including effective communication plans for stakeholders.
  7. The chosen individual's work will be comprised of a mixture of steady-state and project-based efforts.
  8. Some after-hours and weekend work may be required for the successful candidate, however, any overtime or work during non-business hours must be approved in advance.

Mandatory Requirements:

  1. University Degree in either Healthcare, Business Administration or Information Technology or equivalent combination of applicable education and experience.
  2. Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst / Clinical Informatics Analyst (or equivalent) responsible for requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, use case analysis, business process analysis, detailed design activities, and developing business analysis documentation obtained in the last 10 years.
  3. Demonstrated experience working with health information systems, CIS, and/or healthcare operations.
  4. Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst/Clinical Informatics Analyst in health information systems/CIS implementation projects with direct experience working with Clinical Documentation standardization.

Qualifying Requirements:

  1. Demonstrated experience working with multiple health organizations/entities in the development of standards/requirements to be used in the implementation of clinical information systems.
  2. Additional experience in any of the following: computerized provider order entry (CPOE), order sets, and ancillary services (Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Laboratory, Health Records, Patient Registration, Patient Scheduling).
  3. Facilitation skills: demonstrated experience in leading workshops with healthcare providers to identify and articulate business requirements, system requirements, and develop user stories or use cases.
  4. Demonstrated experience working with a high level of self-direction, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to confidently engage and collaborate with project team members, subject matter experts, and stakeholders at all levels.
  5. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, and work with multiple teams supporting more than one project stream/activity at a time.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, Teams) in the work environment.
  7. Knowledge of Atlassian JIRA software in a work environment.
  8. Verbal and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills in French and English is strongly preferred.
  9. Previous experience working within public health authorities, showcasing a strong understanding of the public healthcare landscape, policies, and practices.
