Position: Consulting Business Analyst
Department: Consulting Services
Reports To: Director, Consulting Services
Location: Calgary, AB (on-site)

About the Role:

As a Consulting Business Analyst, you will play a crucial role in this mission, focusing on the development of business plans, feasibility studies, economic impact reports, and commercial documents, all aimed at promoting the growth and prosperity of First Nations in alignment with Steel River Group's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Community-Focused Analysis: Analyze complex data models to identify social and economic development opportunities for First Nations, creating customized reports and ad-hoc analyses.
  2. Strategic Partnership Research: Research funding opportunities and grants for projects within First Nation communities, staying informed of industry reports and trends.
  3. Development Planning: Generate business plans, feasibility studies, and economic impact assessments tailored to the needs and aspirations of First Nations.
  4. Recommendation and Strategy Formulation: Utilize metrics and community insights to formulate and present recommendations for business strategy and operations to leadership and community stakeholders.
  5. Project Management: Execute analyses to determine the best solutions and methods for project implementation. Manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing future improvement opportunities.
  6. Collaborative Support: Work closely with divisions, departments, and community representatives, providing support to ensure the success of community-focused projects.
  7. Innovation and Creativity: Promote a culture of creativity in problem-solving, relationship management, and communication to drive results for Steel River Group and First Nations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Education: Post-secondary education in Business, Management, Economics, Indigenous Studies, or a related field with a focus on community development.
  2. Experience: 3+ years of work experience preferred. Experience working with productivity and analytics tools, including Excel Macros, Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI), and AI tools such as GPT models, Midjourney, etc.
  3. Skills and Attributes: Adaptable and culturally sensitive to the dynamics of working with First Nation communities. Committed to personal and professional growth, with effective communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
