Our Bridges Department is looking for a Bridge Engineer for our team in British Columbia. Reporting to the Manager, Major Bridges & West Region, the Bridge Engineer will be responsible for carrying out engineering activities in the field of bridges and engineering structures such as the development, design, evaluation, inspection, and execution of various projects.
This position is based in Vancouver, BC with a hybrid work model.
Your role within the team
- Support and develop the technical knowledge of professionals (engineers and technicians).
- Carrying out studies, structural analysis, and evaluations.
- Carry out preliminary and detailed structural design including tender preparation for the construction and/or rehabilitation of bridges and other structures.
- Carry out structure inspections and asset management activities for existing structures.
- Preparation of proposals including technical publications and conferences.

The ideal candidate
- Degree in Civil Engineering (preferably with a structural major). Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with EGBC.
- 7+ years of experience in engineering practice in analysis and design of various types of bridge and transportation structures; railway structures are an asset. Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with variety of complexity, type of bridge, size and scope. Experience with reviewing condition survey reports and making recommendations for rehabilitation strategy.
- Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Code.
- Experience in preparing structural designs and evaluations, and contract packages for the Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) with key Clients (MOTT, TransLink, Municipalities), including current Ministry policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and manuals.
- Proficient in SAP 2000, CSI Bridge, MIDAS, Staad Pro, ETABS, Bentley ProjectWise and Microsoft Office applications.
