Title: Booking Coordinator

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Position Status: Part-Time, Permanent (21 hours per week, Mon to Fri, mornings)

Reports to: Manager, Deafblind Community Services

Rate: $23.12/hour

Closing date: Apr 30th, 2025

What you'll do for CNIB Deafblind Community Services

In covering a broad range of duties, the Booking Coordinator performs moderately complex administrative work. The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:

  • Schedules and coordinates Intervention Services for DeafBlind individuals
  • Assists Manager, DeafBlind Community Services with the allocation of resources
  • Performs administrative duties including, but not limited to service tracking, benchmarking, report writing, note taking, etc.
  • Performs administrative duties for the Regional Management Team
  • Prepares correspondence, mailings and filing
  • Assists with preparation and participates in community and in-house presentations pertaining to DeafBlind Services
  • Attends internal and external meetings
  • Other duties as required

Relationships

  • Liaises with volunteers, community agencies, educational facilities and clients
  • Participates in team meetings and other regional activities.
  • Works independently and collaboratively with the DBS and regional team
  • Participates in committees and team meetings as required

Problem Solving/Time Frame of Impact

This position requires the individual to think on their feet to resolve routine or difficult problems encountered.

Decision Autonomy

This position will follow standard DBCS procedures. Consults with Manager, Deafblind Community Services on a regular basis.

Leadership

  • The ability to function with limited supervision when required.
  • Maintains a positive attitude focused on total company success.

Who you are:

  • Fluent expressive and receptive ASL (American Sign Language) skills, two hand manual, signed English and tactile sign language.
  • In depth knowledge of implications faced by people who are Deafblind
  • Strong knowledge of deaf culture
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office including work processing and experience working in a database environment including queries
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Outlook, Skype, Office Communicator, and Video conferencing
  • Requires excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrated decision-making and judgement
  • Mature with a professional attitude and solid team player
  • Self directed, organized, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with strict deadlines

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Post Secondary Education in Intervention/ Interpreter field, graduate of a recognized secretarial business college program, or equivalent job related experience
  • Minimum 3 years related experience
