The salary range for this position is CAD $27.10 - $27.10 / hour.

Detailed Overview

Performs scheduling and booking functions for a variety of patient appointments for designated areas within Medical Imaging. Duties include arranging times with patients, doctor's offices, nursing units, physicians, technical staff and surgical/medical daycare, making follow up appointments, locating applicable images/films prior to appointments and rearranging schedules to meet changing demands/requests. Prepares and confirms patient information, enters booking, patient and image/film information into radiology and hospital computerized and/or manual booking and patient information systems and fills requisitions for all bookings. Acts as receptionist to support the delivery of patient care and ensure client/family needs are met above all other concerns.

Responsibilities
  • Schedules and books inpatient/outpatient/daycare appointments in accordance with Radiologist’s established priority level and medical/technical staff schedules.
  • Arranges daycare beds for various procedures including emergency appointments when required.
  • Pre-registers daycare patients when required by obtaining patient information.
  • Locates relevant patient information such as images/films and consultation histories.
  • Enters booking and image/film information into applicable computerized and/or manual booking system.
  • Registers patients by obtaining essential or changed information.
  • Maintains requisitions for all inpatient/outpatient bookings.
  • Provides patient waiting list information to supervisor.
  • Acts as receptionist by performing duties such as greeting and directing patients and visitors.
  • Arranges transportation for patients required for transfer and/or appointments.
  • Orients new and relief staff to the scheduling and booking procedures.
  • Performs clerical functions such as operating a facsimile and/or photocopier.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience

Grade 12, two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to keyboard at 40 wpm.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
