With an active volunteer community and large membership, the Society offers educational programs, public events, and support to the gardening community in Calgary’s challenging growing conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This volunteer role requires a minimum two-year term commitment as well as availability for approximately five to ten hours per month to attend Board and Committee meetings and attend Society events.
The Finance Committee member will contribute to ensuring that effective financial measures, controls and procedures are in place and operating effectively to ensure that the Society’s financial resources are utilized in accordance with Calhort’s policies and good governance.
The role is best filled by someone with accounting and/or finance experience. Knowledge and experience in the non-profit sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
Though gardening expertise is not a must, all Board members must support our mission and organizational goals.
ABOUT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
The Board of Directors is responsible for the governance and financial accountability of the organization. The Board sets strategic direction and budgets and provides oversight of the Executive Director.
Additionally, Directors are expected to advocate for the Society within the community and to serve as ambassadors at its public events.
