NAC is currently seeking a Tekla Modeler, for our Head Office location in Morriston, ON.


Position Summary:

Reporting to the Civil Estimating Manager, the Tekla Modeler is at the forefront of creating and managing the digital models used in estimating and construction execution planning. This role requires expert proficiency in Tekla software to transform design concepts into intelligent, accurate 3D models that serve as the foundation of the BIM process. These models will provide real-time updates and integrated data, streamlining decision-making across various project stages while ensuring compliance with project standards and requirements.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design Construction initiatives
  • Review project documents and specifications
  • Develop and maintain 3D models using Tekla software
  • Create and streamline construction processes for precast concrete designs, including formwork, fabrication, shop drawings, scheduling and cost estimates
  • Ensure models meet industry standards and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop execution plans (e.g., pour break and formwork layout drawings)
  • Identify and resolve conflicts between design models and project documents.
  • Work closely with estimators, project management and other stakeholders, participate in project meetings to maintain coordinated, accurate designs.
  • Update and revise models in response to feedback and project changes.
  • Conduct quality checks on models to ensure they are accurate and complete.

Requirements:
  • Diploma in a relevant technical field (e.g., Civil Engineering Technology or Architectural Technology)
  • Working experience in construction, design, drafting, or coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in BIM modelling software such as Tekla or Revit, with relevant experience on large-scale projects
  • Familiar with Bluebeam and AutoCAD; willingness to learn additional software (e.g., Civil 3D, Kubla Cubed) as needed
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams, resolve conflicts and negotiate effectively to ensure all parties are aligned and work towards common goals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a creative and innovative approach to providing solutions to overcoming challenges.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles, including time management, budgeting, and resource allocation, to ensure effective BIM implementation and the timely progression of projects.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, building codes and standards, to ensure BIM model compliance.
