Job Posting: Bilingual Speech Pathologist and Communicative Disorders Assistant

Location: Toronto Area (North York, Scarborough, Mississauga) & Barrie/Aurora Regions.

In-Person On-site in school and virtual.

Position Type: Part-Time / Contract

We are excited to announce our partnership with the French School Board to provide care to students in the Greater Toronto Area.

Position Overview:
Speech Associates is recruiting French-speaking Speech-Language Pathologists, Speech-Language Pathology Assistants and Communicative Disorders Assistants to act as a Communication Support Specialist. In this role, you will work directly with students who have established alternative communication tools in various schools across the School Board. The successful candidate will complete assessments and provide relevant training to students, ensuring professional and timely follow up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initial Assessment:
  • Evaluate students' communication needs; recommending appropriate tools, apps, and specialized equipment.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations with parents, caregivers and educators in a collaborative approach
  • Offer training on various communication tools as required to empower students and staff
  • Continuous Follow-Up and Collaboration:
  • Conduct regular follow-ups (3-4 weeks/sessions) based on student needs: weekly for new systems, bi-weekly or monthly for existing systems.
  • Collaborate with schools and caregivers, maintaining regular communication and support as needed

Qualifications:

  • MSc in Speech-Language Pathology; Registration with CASLPO/eligibility to register with CASLPO
  • and/or Communicative Disorders Assistant postgraduate certificate; CDAAC Membership
  • 4+ years of previous experience working with clients in a Speech-Language Pathology capacity
  • Fluency in both English and French mandatory
  • Experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum an asset
  • Knowledge of alternative communication systems and tools
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with educators and families
  • Ability to adapt strategies based on clinical judgment and individual student needs

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $65.00-$70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
