About the role:
As a Senior Specialist, Configuration Management and Operations Control, you will be working with various stakeholders, information technology teams, and project teams. You will be responsible for managing and maturing our Configuration Management Practice to effectively manage our assets, position us for effective management of our IT environments, and the delivery of IT services. You will also execute oversight of change activities through established processes to render the organization’s configuration management capabilities compliant to regulatory guidelines and control standards, demonstrated through measured improvements in our maturity.
What you’ll do:
- Develop, document, maintain, evolve, mature, and measure the organization’s Configuration Management Practice.
- Integrate configuration management capabilities with key processes and functions, such as Dev Ops, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment, IT Service Management, Network Management, Infrastructure as Code, Major Incident Management and response planning, Business Continuity Management, Risk Management, and Data Governance.
- Oversee technology changes (i.e. platform/software implementations and upgrades, software enhancements, decommissioning, and integration), including influencing architectural design, and oversight of implementation, ensuring operational control compliance throughout.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external IT teams to mature the Configuration Management Practice through established governance and processes (i.e., Technology Lifecycle Management), business impact analysis, governance and risk management frameworks, audits and assessments, and observation briefs.
- Lead major IT incidents (both physical and technological) to resolution based on established processes and plans, including leadership communications, and recommending DR plan activation, as appropriate.
- Respond to formal inquiries from our customers and regulators with a focus on Configuration Management subject matter based in evidence of our capabilities, reporting, action plans in progress, and improvement plans.
- Ensure proposed technical solutions meet the requirements of business impact analysis, such as alignment with RTO and RPO requirements, established configuration relationships/dependencies, and architectural patterns.
- Partner with audit & compliance teams to deliver fact-based audit & assessment reports through interviews, provision of technical evidence, validating potential audit exceptions and recommendations to support management responses.
What you should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, or in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- A minimum of seven (7) years practical experience in IT infrastructure, networks, applications, and configuration management, including scripting and automation, version control systems, cloud platforms, implementing and managing ServiceNow (or other) ITOM and CMDB management, including Discovery.
- Experience leading a Configuration Management Practice in multi-platform hybrid environments.
- Experience managing real world major incident scenarios through the major incident/problem/change lifecycle.
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing the work of several IT third party providers through effective relationship management, governance, risk management, cloud operations management, compliance reporting, issues management, and IT general controls management.
- Exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills (in both official languages, French and English), deep experience developing and maintaining technical documentation, communicating with internal/external stakeholders, distilling highly complex technical information into business impact terms, and briefing senior leadership.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (i.e. OSFI) and industry standards related to IT asset Management, configuration management and business continuity.
- Experience in application of Agile and ITIL frameworks.
It would be great if you also had:
- Insurance/Financial Institution experience in complying with regulatory requirements.
- Professional designations in IT asset management, configuration management, cloud platform and on-prem infrastructure management, Microsoft Azure, other relevant designation, or certification.
- Demonstrated experience in monitoring or overseeing large scale IT programs and/or projects.
- Experience in transformational change and managing related service area impacts.
