Position - Bilingual Program Coordinator (Contract until March 31, 2026)

Location - 555 Richmond Street West, Toronto (some travel to Quebec and across Canada is required)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Coordinator will provide oversight of this significantly complex/multi-faceted project. This position will focus on Quebec. This National initiative entails driving impact, meeting and exceeding the objectives and developing partnerships with employers. This position will also be responsible for translating all WorkAbility documentation and resources into French for distribution within Quebec.

The YES Workability Project will engage 500 employers (approximately 380 over the remaining two years of this initial stage in the project) in intensive activities that promote the valuable contribution of persons with mental health disabilities to the workforce. Through these activities, we will raise the profile of persons with mental health disabilities within the employer community and highlight the capabilities and skills of workers with mental health disabilities. We will assist employers to create inclusive and accessible workplaces through activities including coaching, training, and human resources supports.

Activities will include hosting hiring fairs to provide employers with talent pools of unemployed persons with mental health disabilities; developing and hosting Information sessions on inclusion and accessibility to support the hiring, inclusion, retention, and career advancement of persons with mental health disabilities; profiling employers with positive hiring practices for persons with mental health disabilities; engaging employers at conferences and knowledge-sharing events; disseminating educational materials and information tools to employers; and supporting employer-led peer-to-peer networking, mentoring, and information-sharing on best practices for increasing the accessibility and inclusiveness of workplaces for persons with disabilities. This position will primarily assist employers in Quebec but will also provide support to the other provinces involved in the project (B.C., Alberta, and Manitoba).

Responsibilities

Ensure the following objectives are met:

  • Outreach to employers
  • Organize job fairs with Managers
  • Assist with developing program materials and ensuring they are translated into French
  • Assist with pledge development and communications
  • Assist with developing a committee with members consisting of persons with mental health disabilities and employers who will inform and guide the activities of the project.
  • Assist with recruiting employers to participate in educational information sessions that will support the hiring, inclusion, retention, and career advancement of persons with mental health disabilities.
  • Assist with organizing community round tables
  • Assist with employer awareness activities
  • Budget coordination

General Organizational Responsibilities, including the following:

  • Actively participate in meetings with immediate supervisor, including the creation, periodic review, and year-end evaluation of performance targets
  • Actively participate in YES program activities, meetings, and committees, as required and/or assigned
  • Attend designated meetings as a representative of YES and actively participate in committees related to project initiatives
  • Comply with all YES policies and procedures and ensure strict confidentiality is maintained on all client, personnel, and agency matters
  • Always represent YES in a professional and inclusive manner
  • Hire, train, and supervise team members
  • Lead and motivate team members through personal example and a commitment to results and service excellence
  • Communicate effectively to all staff regarding performance targets, desired outcomes, procedures, or changes in guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of best practices in mental health policy and programming
  • 3-5 years’ experience in managing large scale projects
  • Sound knowledge of the non-profit sector.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills
  • Fully bilingual in French and English
