SUMMARY

This position oversees the daily operation of the bell stand and transportation department, and ensures the best in guest satisfaction. It is the responsibility of this position to ensure all bell staff present a 4 Diamond image in manner, dress and verbal communication. This position will perform the functions of bellperson or transportation at any time needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises bell staff and transportation drivers
  • Responsible for completing all work schedules for staff.
  • Must attend resume and rooms division meetings.
  • Must hold monthly staff meetings to ensure company and department information is distributed.
  • Must process amenity delivery for payroll in a timely manner.
  • Keeps open communication with other departments.
  • Responsible for posting all special transportation.
  • Orders all newspapers for VIP delivery.
  • Completes tasks of bell staff and driver when needed.
  • Maintains and make sure staff maintains proper grooming standards
  • Responsible for training new staff.
  • Keeps track of fleet of vehicles and any repairs needed. Keeps open communication with fleet maintenance to ensure vehicles are up to date on maintenance.
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the front door area as well as the lobby area.
  • Responsible for coordinating and posting valet parking.
  • Must follow proper grooming and dress standards set forth by the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain a good rapport with fellow employees and reflect positive attitude.
  • Complete all assignments requested of you.
  • Maintains open line of communication with supervisor
  • Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a current, valid Chauffer/CDL license with a Passenger Endorsement.
  • Driving record must be free of any alcohol or drug related convictions within the last 3 years, and may not have more than 6 points in moving violations, or, the license may not have been revoked at any time within the last 36 months.
  • Must be insurable under the Resort’s vehicle insurance policy
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a customer service area is required, preferably in a hotel setting.
  • Must have experience in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong customer service skills a must.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

This position requires the associate to possess excellent guest service skills with a high energy level. Individual should possess good oral and written communication skills as well as be detail oriented. Associate should have the ability to supervise many different types of personalities and situations. The needs for quickness and ease of adjustment to the work environment and flexibility to change are essential to this position. Must be informative and deal effectively with guests and employees while being friendly at all times.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining employees. Attends meetings as requested. Communication with other managers and supervisors of the resort are essential to the proper performance of this position. The ability to have a positive attitude and to only make positive comments about any area of the resort is essential to the success of the company.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Manual labor may be part of your daily job assignment.
  • Extended hours of standing will be necessary
  • While performing the duties of this job, the performer must be able to lift up to 75lbs.
  • Frequent bending to work on the ground and lifting of things off the ground will be necessary to complete some of your job tasks.
  • Must abide by all driving laws. Employee is responsible for any violations of Michigan state motor vehicle laws.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS

The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and work well under pressure is a must. Must be prepared to listen to any guest complaint/problem, and help solve it. Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will require working indoors and in outdoor conditions encountered in Northern Michigan; cold, heat, dry, wet, wind, cloudy and sunny conditions. Individual may have to cope with varying noise levels and driving conditions. Must practice all safety policies, procedures and standards as set by OSHA.

COMMENTS

Native American Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a Drug Screen as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
