JOB TITLE: Behavioral Health Therapist

SCOPE: Full-Time/Exempt

SUPERVISION: Behavioral Health Lead

DOORWAYS, a nationally-known interfaith non-profit, empowers clients to overcome poverty, HIV, and homelessness by providing numerous supportive services that improve Housing, Health and Hope. As a bi-state agency with broad impact, we assist nearly 3,500 clients annually. On the heels of opening our innovative 3-acre $40M Jefferson Ave. Campus, we are poised to expand our programming to improve service provision, while taking the organization to new heights.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist (BHT) specializing in the treatment of dual diagnoses/co-occurring disorders of mental health and substance use to provide clinical services to DOORWAYS participants, with the focus to improve overall health and wellness. The BHT will work closely with Care Coordinators in each of our different housing programs. The BHT must have reliable transportation, pass a background check, drug test, and TB test.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide evidence-based, clinical therapy services for DOORWAYS participants in the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. Meet with participants on agency property, in client homes, over the phone, and/or virtually for individual and group therapy sessions. Properties are located throughout St. Louis City and County.
  2. Plan and conduct evidenced-based, clinical psychotherapy group sessions regularly.
  3. Timely respond to internal client referrals, conduct outreach calls as needed, and program intakes.
  4. Evaluate client needs, create and maintain treatment plans, and develop individual interventions using person-centered and strengths-based approaches.
  5. Create and enter case notes for all client interactions/services and other data into DOORWAYS database.
  6. All other duties and special projects as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Typical working hours are Monday- Friday 8:30-5:00. Local travel is required for this position to meet with participants during home visits, attend meetings at various DOORWAYS and partner properties, and to attend community meetings (mileage reimbursement included).

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Master’s degree in counseling or social work is required.
  2. LPC or LCSW credential in Missouri, PLPC or LMSW under current supervision is also acceptable.
  3. Certification in the treatment of dual diagnoses/co-occurring disorders or a CADC, CRADC, CRAADC credential is highly preferred.
  4. Will consider individuals who are not yet under supervision and plan to take state licensure exam. Job is contingent upon taking and passing exam within 90 days of hire date.
  5. Two years of leading individual and group counseling experience is preferred.
  6. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software, such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  7. This position is highly independent. BHT must be comfortable working with individuals and groups independently without other support staff present.
  8. Experience working with the HIV, homeless, or LGBTQIA+ community is preferred.
  9. An influenza vaccine is required annually.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  2. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  3. Must be able to work well as a team member and also be a self-starter who is able to work independently.
  4. Must have a positive attitude with cultural competence and work well with diverse populations.
  5. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and build professional relationships with clients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The BHT will do a large part of his/her work sitting and/or at a computer and must be able to spend extended periods of time typing and reading at a computer, as well as working face-to-face with clients.
